In an interview with ABC News host George Stephanopoulos , the president insisted amid worried that he is completely mentally and physically fit to serve another four years at 81 years old. Shortly before the interview, originally intended to run Sunday, The Washington Post reported that Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) was recruiting Democrats to oppose Biden as the Democratic Party’s nominee.

    According to The Post :

Warner is telling Democratic senators that Biden can no longer remain in the election in the wake of his faltering debate performance, according to the people familiar with private conversations who spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak freely. Warner has told others that he is deeply concerned that Biden is not able to run a campaign that could beat former president Donald Trump.

“Mark’s a good man. He also tried to get the nomination,” Biden said without specifying the time period he was referring to. “Mark and I have a different perspective. I respect him.”

Biden insisted he’s spoken with Democratic leaders and they’ve all insisted he “stay in the race.”

Biden chalked his debate performance up to a “bad night,” though he did not directly answer when asked if he watched the debate back.

“Did you ever watch the debate afterwards?” Stephanopoulos asked.

“I don’t think I did, no,” Biden said.
