SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) —An internal investigation is underway after a grass fire on Thursday night prompted county officials to reiterate the rules regarding fireworks in county parks and city limits.

The fire, which occurred in West Tom Green County, saw a response from Sheriff’s Deputies and Dove Creek Volunteer Firefighters.

County Judge Lane Carter addressed the incident, stressing that fireworks are banned in county parks.

“We want it to be made aware that in our county parks, we do not permit the use of shooting off fireworks inside the park,” Carter said. ” It can be punishable by us kicking you out of the park and it also poses a threat to our first responders. We want everybody to be safe.”

Judge Carter additionally noted that fireworks in county parks are only permitted with a special permit.
