CALHOUN COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – The Florida Highway Patrol is reminding drivers to use caution while on State Road 20 after another crash occurred on Friday.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, at 11 a.m a 31-year-old female from Panama City was driving eastbound on State Road 20 near NW Harry G. Mcclellan Rd. She failed to notice another vehicle stopped in front of her causing her to swerve into the westbound lane, officials said.

As a result, this led her to hit another vehicle driving in the westbound lane, which overturned onto its right side on the North shoulder. FHP officials said the 31-year-old driver sustained only minor injuries.

FHP officials confirmed the 36 year old driver and passenger in the other vehicle did not sustain any injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Calhoun County EMS, and the Blountstown Fire Department.

FHP Lieutenant Jason King said this was the fifth crash in the general location since a double fatality accident occurred on December 31, 2023. This brings the total to two fatal crashes and three lives lost, according to a news release.

Officials want to remind you to stay focused while driving and refrain from using your phone, reading, eating, driving fatigued, or becoming distracted if there are children or animals in the car.
