Star SEC Quarterback Steals Top Spot After Trade in 2025 NFL Mock Draft

The SEC could produce four first-round quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL draft with the way things are shaping up. After seeing six quarterbacks come off the board in the first 12 picks of the 2024 NFL draft, will the SEC lead the charge toward matching that mark?

ESPN's Matt Miller has a new one-round mock draft out for 2025 and in this scenario, the New York Giants give up on Daniel Jones and trade up for an SEC star. Which one? It's Georgia's Carson Beck over Texas' Quinn Ewers, Texas A&M's Conner Weigman and Alabama's Jalen Milroe.

You can check out all of Miller's mock draft by following the link in the tweet below.

Here is what Miller had to say about Beck as the pick for the Giants:

“The Giants threw 15 touchdown passes last season (the fifth fewest in the league) and Daniel Jones is coming off a season-ending ACL injury, but the team is running it back this year.”

Veteran Drew Lock was added as a backup, but there still isn't a long-term answer under center on this roster. So the front office might get aggressive about finding one.

Beck, my QB1 in the class at the moment, is a steady pocket passer with a big arm and great processing speed. He is primed for a breakout season after throwing 24 touchdown passes and completing 72.4% of his throws in his first season as a starter in 2023.

After Beck, Miller has Ewers going to the New Orleans Saints with the No. 10 pick. The Saints are in dire need of a replacement for Derek Carr and Ewers has one of the best all-around games in the country.

The last SEC quarterback going in this first round is Weigman. Miller has him going No. 19 overall to the Los Angeles Rams.
