HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WHNT ) — The Urology Health Foundation (UHF) says prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths for men in the U.S. in 2023.

To combat this, the Madison County Health Department (301 Max Luther Dr NW) is offering free prostate cancer screenings on Tuesday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

According to UHF , nearly 100% of men who are diagnosed with localized prostate cancer, cancer that has not spread beyond the prostate, are still alive five years after their diagnosis. However, UHF says only 33.4% of men who are diagnosed during the late stages survive five years.

You can call the Madison County Health Department at 256-539-3711 for more information.
