    Adoption event

    Pitt Friends and Lacey’s Legacy cat rescue will hold an adoption event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at PetCo. 3060 S. Evans St.

    Shelter Buddies

    Pitt County Animal Services is hosting the 2024 Shelter Buddies Reading Program at 4550 County Home Road. Kids ages 6-15 are invited to bring books to read from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesdays-Thursdays through Aug. 16. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.     Mutt Strutters

    Pitt County Animal Services’ award-winning Mutt Strutters program is seeking volunteers to walk dogs at 9 a.m. Mondays-Saturdays and 9:30 a.m. Sundays.     ‘Rover Nights’

    The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina is scheduling “Rover Nights,” a chance for people to host a dog for a sleepover. It is designed to give dogs a respite from the shelter environment.
