What happens when your family doesn't like the baby name you've picked ?

A mum-to-be is upset that her family isn't keen on the name she's chosen for her second child.

The woman, who's expecting her second child, thought she was having a girl . She already has a son and was expecting her next child to be a daughter.

But, to her shock, she had another boy. She started to worry because she hadn't thought about boys' names. She eventually settled on one - Quinlan James Hardy.

Sharing her story on Reddit, she said: "It has always sat in the back of my brain for many years and never considered it until now and the more I said it, it felt right."

When she told her friends and her mum, they all said they liked the name. Her husband was more doubtful. The more he said the name, the more he warmed to it.

Someone eventually shared the name on Facebook for everyone to see. She texted her dad and his wife to get their thoughts on the name.

"Let me just say, this felt like a VERY proud moment for me because the middle name is in honour of my Dad. Never, never, ever, ever, in a million years, did I expect the phone call I got from him the next day."

He said: "You know I love ya, right? Do NOT name him that. It's horrible, he'll be bullied and made fun of, you just can't do it."

He suggested names that are "more manly", such as Tank, Pax, Zander, Axel and James Wade. Following the dad's input, the rest of the family started to voice their objections too.

Now, even her husband is against the name she picked. In the comments section, people reassured her not to heed her father's advice. However, they concurred that Quinlan isn't a great choice.

"If you love it, stick to your guns. No one has the right to influence you to change it. It's uncommon but there is nothing wrong with the name, and Quinn is a really cute short form."

Another commented: "I don't think it's bad! If you need alternatives, my sisters knew a Quinten growing up and he was in with the popular kids so highly doubt he ever got bullied lol."
