Poached eggs are a beloved choice for weekend meals , be it breakfast, brunch or even some dinner recipes. But if you're after the "perfect" poached egg without spending ages at the stove, one TikTok user and culinary aficionado suggests you forget about the pans and try a different approach.

Emily Scott, who posts her morning meal tips and tricks on TikTok under the handle @whatiateforbreakfast, claims her technique is a foolproof way to nail the perfect poached egg . She insists, though, that there's one crucial step you dare not skip.

According to the food influencer, you don't need a cooker or pan to whip up her version of poached eggs. Instead, she pops hers in the microwave, touting them as the "perfect quick breakfast".

She starts by oiling a small microwave-friendly bowl before cracking a hefty egg into it.

If you're aiming to cook several eggs simultaneously, Emily suggests using a few small ramekins. Then, pour in boiling water from the kettle until the egg is fully covered. Here comes her essential advice.

In her TikTok clip, Emily advises: "Carefully prick the egg and white with a cocktail stick, skewer or sharp knife. This helps to prevent the chance of the egg exploding so don't skip this step."

She advises zapping your egg for 40 to 45 seconds, but keep an eye on it throughout. Emily does mention that cooking times can differ based on your microwave model.

She advised: "Depending on the power of your microwave and how many eggs you are cooking, you may need to cook for a few seconds less or longer. If they are undercooked, try adding an extra five or 10 seconds at a time until the whites are cooked but the yolk is still runny."

Once the eggs appear to be cooked to your preference, it's time to take them out of the microwave. Place the eggs on a piece of kitchen towel to soak up any excess moisture.
