SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A Spartanburg man turned himself in after investigators began looking for him in connection with an arson at a Spartanburg County church.

According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, Brandon Thomas Greene, 18, of Spartanburg, turned himself in to investigators and was placed in the Spartanburg County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.

On the morning of July 4, deputies were called to Philadelphia Baptist Church in Pauline after two of the church’s vans caught on fire.

The 911 caller told deputies they saw a suspicious person on the church property before the fire, and then saw the person get into a truck.

Arson investigators reportedly canvassed nearby businesses and managed to find video of the truck and after the sheriff’s office shared a photo Greene’s photo on social media, he turned himself in. He is charged with two counts of arson.
