The WWE has featured some of the best tag teams ever over the years. From the Von Erichs of old to the Usos of the present day, coming up with the five best tag teams is difficult. For this list, the best tag teams were determined based on the number of tag titles and their overall impact on wrestling. Here are the top five WWE tag teams of all time.

5. D-Generation X

First up on the list is one of the most controversial but influential tag teams of all time, D-Generation X. They are best known for being anti-establishment, which took two superstar wrestlers, Shawn Michaels and Triple H, to new heights. This tag team was at the forefront of the Attitude Era in the WWE with their antics, catchphrases, and much more.

This duo only won tag titles one time together, in 2009. They make this list because they redefined the idea of a tag team going against the grain of being "lovable" in all areas of WWE. They are a cornerstone of wrestling history and earned their spot on this list.

4. Edge and Christian

At the fourth spot is Edge and Christian, a tag team that has both titles and a heavy influence on the wrestling world. There was no need for a creative tag team name with the charisma of Edge and Christian. It can be argued that these two are the most well-rounded tag team on this list.

From their mic work to success in the ring, both men went on to win world titles, and it all started with their tag team days. They shot into the scene with their performances in TLC matches, leaving people in awe. Edge and Christian won seven tag titles, proving they were worth the price of admission.

3. The Dudley Boyz

Coming in at the third spot is one of the most charismatic tag teams in wrestling history, The Dudley Boyz. The Dudley Boyz helped pioneer the "hardcore wrestling" section of the sport. Their feuds with the Hardy Boyz and Edge and Christian in TLC matches had fans glued to their TV or in the ring to see who went through a table first.

The brawling, streetwise pair brought home WWE, WCW, ECW, and TNA tag team championships in their career. Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley are fan favorites for their tactics, but being 23-time tag team champions and members of both the WWE and TNA Hall of Fame is what earns them their spot on this list.

2. The Hardy Boyz

In the second spot is arguably the highest-flying tag team, both figuratively and physically, the Hardy Boyz. Jeff and Matt Hardy have won tag titles everywhere they have gone. The Hardyz wrestled in the WWE, ROH, and TNA to become 12-time tag team champions. Their feuds with the Dudley Boyz, Edge and Christian, and others were made for TV every time.

The Hardyz set the bar for extreme matches involving tables, ladders, and chairs. They put their body on the line for the tag titles, which paid off with their continued success. The Hardyz are among the few teams to split, and both members have successful solo runs. The Hardy Boyz created fame when they were slated to be a gimmick.

1. The Road Warriors/Legion Of Doom

Last but certainly not least is The Legion of Doom or The Road Warriors. It is difficult to dominate the wrestling business as a tag team and even more difficult to dominate across multiple wrestling companies. Hawk and Animal dominated the WWE, WCW, and AWA, winning titles in all three companies.

The Legion of Doom was the face of tag team wrestling for nearly two decades, from the late '80s through the early '90s. The painted faces and spiky outfits made their battles with other tag teams like The Nasty Boys and Demolition pure cinema.

Hawk and Animal won the WWF World Tag Team Championship, WCW World Tag Team Championship, and IWGP Tag Team Championship during their time . They are the best definition of tag team wrestling now and forever.
