Episode 1 of The Auditors saw Shin Cha-Il become the new audit team leader of JU Construction. The appointment only frustrated the audit team as they had to deal with a new and rude team leader. Rookie employee, Gu Han-Soo, didn’t see eye to eye with Cha-Il. Meanwhile, the latter began to discover hidden corruption schemes within the company. He began his investigation with the tower crane accident.

    The Auditors Episode 1 spoilers

The Auditors K-drama episode 1 began with an introduction to Shin Cha-Il’s character. He had uncovered corruption in a financial director’s actions, thereby punishing the latter. The episode then shifted to showcase a huge tower crane accident before focusing on the audit team at JU Construction. The team was frustrated at CEO Hwang Se-Woong for making the existing team leader quit the position. Together, they had a final dinner with the team leader, unaware of who would replace him.

Shin Cha-Il becomes the new audit team leader

Gu Han-Soo met with the field director Mr. Bae during dinner, who gifted him with new shoes. He and fellow rookie auditor, Yoon Seo-Jin, were the last ones left there. They had a conversation, which reflected their opposite belief systems. While Han-Soo was an innocent and social person, Seo-Jin believed in being professional over personal.

The following day, Han-Soo spent some time with his parents before heading to the office. Meanwhile, CEO Hwang Se-Woong tended to a patient at the hospital. While heading back, he discovered that the executive directors promised the tower crane victims weren’t compensated well nor given proper treatment. Se-Woong looked at Shin Cha-Il’s profile. Back at the office, the audit team thought their new team leader would be the deputy leader.

At lunch, they crossed paths with Shin Cha-Il and thought of him as rude and arrogant. Furthermore, the team realized that Cha-Il was present for the audit team leader interview. The team asked Han-Soo to eavesdrop on the meeting. Meanwhile, Cha-Il claimed to conduct regular audits as he believed frauds existed within JU Construction. He was eventually appointed as the new team leader.

Shin Cha-Il & Gu Han-Soo argue over their beliefs

Shin Cha-Il joined the audit team as their new team leader, which shocked the rest of the team, including Han-Soo. During their first meeting, Cha-Il revealed that he was going to audit the tower crane incident. The team expressed that the case was a closed book. However, Cha-Il revealed that the exact cause behind the incident was never revealed. Seo-Jin decided to investigate further on the team leader’s advice.

Han-Soo, who was promised a transfer to the Florida branch by the former team leader, could see his dreams slipping away. Meanwhile, Cha-Il wanted to interview field director Mr Bae, who he believed was guilty. However, Han-Soo decided to believe Mr. Bae, even if he didn’t have any proof. On their way to visit Mr Bae, Cha-Il asked Han-Soo to change departments. The new team leader didn’t think Han-Soo had what it takes to become an auditor.

At the site, Mr. Bae ran away with the laptop that had all the information about the tower crane incident. When Cha-Il confronted him, he fell and broke his hands and legs. Cha-Il believed that Young-Sik lied about the cause of the tower crane collapse. At the hospital, Han-Soo struggled between believing Young-SIk or doubting him.

The Auditors K-drama Episode 1: What happens at the end?

Shin Cha-Il and Go Han-Soo get attacked

After the hospital visit, Cha-Il met the JU Construction executive director, who asked him for the laptop. Cha-Il suspected the director’s hand in the incident and decided to uncover the hidden secrets. At night, the executive director made his plans of getting the laptop back. The following morning, the audit team deputy leader convinced Han-Soo of a promotion if he could get the laptop from Cha-Il.

On their way to the accident site, Cha-Il broke down over past trauma and discussed with Han-Soo their opposite beliefs. Cha-Il confronted the man responsible for renting makeshift goods and embezzling money. The man asked him to wait outside. However, he overheard their conversation when he saw the man beg Cha-Il for mercy.

On their way back, both Cha-Il and Han-Soo were attacked by a mob. A man also hit Cha-Il, which made him unconscious. After realizing that the laptop was gone, Cha-Il headed to the office and confronted the executive director. The episode ended with Han-Soo witnessing Cha-Il’s first meeting with Vice President, Hwang Dae-Woong.
