    John Belushi’s widow Judy Belushi-Pisano dies after decades of protecting husband’s legacy

    John Belushi's widowed wife, Judy Belushi-Pisano, died at 73 years old.

    An Instagram page ran by the Belushi estate and Judy posted the news on Saturday, July, 6. with a pictures of her and John. Judy was married to John from 1973 until 1982 after he died from an overdose. John was known for his roles in Saturday Night Live, Animal House and The Blues Brothers . Judy protected John's legacy even after going through John's infidelity and addiction struggles.

    The post read: "Today, our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to our sweet Judy. Her unwavering dedication and creative genius alongside Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi gave birth to The Blues Brothers, a timeless testament to the power of music and laughter.

    It continued to read: "In the years following John’s passing in 1982, Judy honored his life and championed his legacy and Blues Brothers brand. As we bid farewell, we pledge to continue her work, ensuring that John’s legacy, and the Blues Brothers will never fade. There was no one like her. Judy made everyone feel loved. She was nonjudgmental, light, funny and pure. You could be truly yourself around her, that alone was a gift. The Belushi and Pisano families will carry your love in their hearts forever."

    People who knew both Judy and John sent their condolences under the comments, as well as fans. One person shared what they remembered about Judy, writing: "My sincere condolences to both the Pisano and Belushi families. I have fond memories of working and hanging out with Judy and John. She was always kind to me and stayed in touch through the years. I so enjoyed seeing her at Animal House reunions. My memories of her are filled with warmth and affection. I'll always cherish them. She will be greatly missed."

    A fan acknowledged that the two are reunited again, writing: "I’m sorry to hear of her passing. I bet her and John had one hell of a reunion wherever their spirits are." Another person wrote: "They are together again." A third person wrote: "She was the perfect balance and match for John. What a reunion they must be having now?"

    In the mid-1970s, Judy was employed in New York as a radio producer, coinciding with her husband's start to fame through his roles in the Second City comedy company and as a cast member of the first season of "Saturday Night Live," which debuted in 1975.
