Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese Debate Intensifies With Both Holding Similar WNBA Records

Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark continues her run at WNBA Rookie of the Year Saturday against the New York Liberty with yet another record.

On Tuesday, July 2 against the Las Vegas Aces, Clark tied Seattle Storm legend Sue Bird’s record for the most points and assists double-doubles by a WNBA rookie ever with three.

Against the New York Liberty, Clark broke the tie with Bird after picking up her fourth such game, leaving her solely at the top in this statistic. The new record happened midway through the third quarter when Clark dished out her 10th assist on a pass to Aliyah Boston for a layup.

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese also holds a similar record. Against the Storm Friday night, Reese tied WNBA legend Candace Parker for the most consecutive double-doubles by any player ever in the WNBA with 12.

Both records will only intensify the Clark vs. Reese debate that began when the Iowa Hawkeyes met the LSU Tigers in the 2023 NCAAW National Championship.

Both Clark and Reese have their teams in prime position to make the WNBA Playoffs, and both were named to the All-Star team.

The two rookie stars seem to break some sort of record every game, officially leaving their stamp on history in one way or another.
