    US-52 reopens after chemical spill

    UPDATE (5:10 p.m. on July 6, 2024) — The portion of US-52 that was closed has been reopened after crews were able to clean the chemical spill in Lawrence County.


    LAWRENCE COUNTY, OH (WOWK) — A portion of US-52 West in Lawrence County, Ohio has been shutdown due to a unknown chemical spill Saturday afternoon.

    According to Lawrence County 911, the spill was reported around 12:46 p.m.

    The cause of the spill has not been reported and Lawrence County HAZMAT are on the scene cleaning up. It is not known how long the cleanup will be. In the meantime, vehicles are being rerouted to County Road 1.

    Lawrence County EMS is also on scene. There are no reported injuries.
