Firefighters have stopped forward progress of a brush fire that ignited near homes in the Newbury Park area Saturday afternoon.

The second-alarm blaze was reported around 2 p.m. off the 1100 block of Arroyo View Street, the Ventura County Fire Department reported. Called the View Fire, it was initially reported at one acre and immediately threatened homes in a neighborhood near Lawrence Drive and Ventu Park Road, according to radio traffic.

Authorities issued evacuation warnings , which means people should be prepared to leave, but the threat isn't yet imminent, for some homes in the area. By shortly after 3 p.m., firefighters had stopped forward progress of the blaze, though air units and firefighters continued to mop up and douse hot spots.

No homes were damaged in the fire, which had burned toward the Lynn Ranch area, said county fire Deputy Chief Chad Cook. It was mapped at 14 acres, officials said.

Crews were continuing to douse hot spots on the ground and by air. Air tankers initially called to the incident had been canceled.

By 5:30 p.m., authorities had lifted all evacuation warnings.
