    Man shot by Metro Transit Police officer to face charges for vehicle-related offenses, police say

    ARLINGTON COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — A man who was shot by a Metro Transit Police officer on Friday is facing charges for a series of vehicle-related offenses, the Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) announced Saturday.

    Police said 30-year-old Mark Anthony Johnson-Crestwell was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Justice and Vehicle Trespass for a series of vehicle-related offenses in the Rosslyn neighborhood.

    Johnson-Crestwell remains hospitalized after being shot by a Metro Transit Police officer in the Rosslyn area on July 5.

    Metro Transit police officer shoots carjacking suspect, Arlington County police say

    ACPD said the officer saw Johnson-Crestwell carjacking someone at N. Nash Street and Fort Myer Drive and tried to intervene. He exited the car and fled on foot.

    The officer then chased him and Johnson-Crestwell tried carjacking another person at N. Kent Street and 19th Street N. when the officer discharged their weapon, hitting him.

    As of Saturday, Johnson-Crestwell was in stable condition.
