LeBron James reacts to son Bronny's first basket for the Los Angeles Lakers: 'Come on man, that's tough'

In his first Summer League game, Bronny James knocked down his first basket in the NBA - all while his father, LeBron James , was watching from afar.

During the second quarter of the ' California Classic' against the Sacramento Kings , Bronny took a direct handoff and laid it in for a bucket.

All this happened while LeBron James was reporting to Team USA Olympic camp in Las Vegas . But 'King James' managed to watch the bucket on someone's phone.

'Come on man, that's tough. That's tough! Get loose!,' James said as he walked into the practice facility.

Later in the game, Bronny knocked down a colder bucket - sending his defender the wrong way with a behind-the-back dribble for a midrange jumper that swished through the net.

Unfortunately for him, those were the only two points that he managed on the night as Bronny went 2-for-9 from the field and 0-for-3 from 3-point range while missing two free throws.

He managed a final statline of four points, two rebounds, two assists, and one steal across 21 minutes of game time.

But at that camp, LeBron decided to put everything into perspective - especially considering his son's heart scare last year.rrr

'For me, to be able to see my son make it in the NBA alone is great,' LeBron said. 'It's always been a dream of his. For us to be side-by-side, I'm proud of him. Words are lost. I mean, the kid has worked so hard to get back to this point, so much has happened over the last year with him.'

LeBron added: 'To have this happen less than a year after the incident, to be with our friends and family when they announced his name … our family still don't even have enough words to explain the feeling that we had. Such a great kid and I'm looking forward to seeing the progression for him to get better. He has so much room for improvement, the speed of the game, physicality of the game.'

He continued: 'Doesn't matter if he plays well and doesn't matter if he doesn't play well. I just want him to continue to grow in practices, in film sessions, individual workouts. You can't take anything stat-wise from the California Classic or (Vegas) Summer League. Only thing matters is him getting better. He's behind because he hasn't really played a full season. Getting better is the only thing that matters.'

Bronny wasn't the only player who underperformed for the Lakers in their 108-94 loss to the Kings.

First-round draft pick Dalton Knecht struggled with his shooting - putting up a 3-for-12 line from the field and a 1-for-4 line from beyond the arc. He finished with 12 points, two rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

Sacramento was led by Adonis Arms and his 32 point, eleven rebound, five assist night. Off the bench, Antoine Davis put up 20 points.
