    Ronald Araujo.

Things got a little heated early in the first half of the 2024 Copa America quarterfinals between Brazil and Uruguay. The two sides proved that it's country over club as Barcelona teammates Ronald Araujo and Raphinha were at the heart of the scuffle.

During a stoppage, Araujo steamrolled Brazil's Endrick from behind with a shoulder tackle, knocking him to the ground. Raphinha immediately came to his countryman's aid, pushing Araujo, who tried to embellish his own fall.

Surprisingly, neither team received a card for the altercation and play resumed without incident. Araujo would later leave the game with an injury and was replaced by Jose Maria Gimenez.

Uruguay has largely dominated the tournament so far, outscoring opponents 9-1 heading into Saturday's quarterfinal. Meanwhile, it hasn't given up a goal since round one against Panama, shutting out Bolivia (5-0) and the United States (1-0).

Conversely, Brazil hasn't had the easiest road to the quarterfinal. After a shocking 0-0 draw against Costa Rica to open the tournament, it knocked off Paraguay easily (4-1) before playing to another tie (1-1) with Columbia.

It's no shock that things got a little out of control between the two neighbors, Brazil and Uruguay. Their rivalry on the pitch extends decades, including in the Copa America, where they're meeting for the 46th time.

Brazil emerged victorious, 3-0, the last time the two sides met in the 2019 Copa America. The Brazilians own a 20-17 series lead in the tournament all-time against Uruguay.
