    Emergency shelter near French Fire closes in Mariposa Co.

    MARIPOSA COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – As a community begins to recover from the French Fire, the American Red Cross announced Saturday afternoon they will be closing their emergency shelter.

    Officials say they worked in close partnership with emergency managers and community partners to decide to close the emergency shelter located at the New Life Christian Fellowship.

    The Red Cross says as extreme heat and fire conditions persist, they will continue to monitor community sheltering needs across the region.

    Officials say as the community begins to recover, volunteers will distribute clean-up kits to neighborhoods affected by the wildfire on Sunday morning. Teams will also coordinate with the county and the affected families to provide recovery assistance.
