Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are the two most talked about names when it comes to the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year race.

Clark entered the year as an overwhelming favorite to win the rookie award, but Reese has started to shrink the gap with some record-setting play.

In a win over the Seattle Storm on Friday night, Reese extended her WNBA record of 12 consecutive double-doubles — recording 27 points and 10 rebounds for the Chicago Sky.

After the game, Reese's teammate Chennedy Carter made the case for Reese to win ROTY.

"Barbie is Rookie of the Year," Carter said.

Shaq reposted this quote on his Instagram story Friday night, seemingly stating his pick for this year's award.

Clark responded to Reese's stellar performance with a record-breaking performance of her own. On Saturday afternoon, Clark led the Fever to an upset victory over the New York Liberty — becoming the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double.

"I don't know what the criteria is for Rookie of the Year, but I love the marketing that's going on between [Angel Reese] and Caitlin [Clark]," Shaq said during the most recent episode of The Big Podcast.

Clark and Reese will suit up as teammates when the WNBA All-Stars face off against Team USA on July 20.
