A 14-year-old American boy, who mysteriously vanished after walking off a cruise ship in Germany , has been found.

Aydin Brown's family feared he had been "lured" away from the luxury vessel after it stopped at a German port. Aydin had been enjoying a family vacation onboard the Caribbean Princess cruise ship with his grandmother ahead of his mystery disappearance.

Police in Germany had been searching for the teenager since Thursday morning after he got off at the port in Rostock-Warnemünde.

They had released to the public an assortment of photos and surveillance footage of Aydin speaking with an unknown man in their efforts to find him.

And on Saturday, it was revealed that Aydin had been found. In a statement, Princess Cruises thanked local German authorities for finding the teenager following their extensive search, noting he was "safe and sound".

The statement read: "'We are delighted that Aydin Brown has been found safe and sound.

"We extend our heartfelt gratitude to German authorities for their swift response and exceptional efforts in locating Aydin after he disembarked in Warnemunde last Thursday morning.

"We understand the distress this situation has caused and will continue to provide ongoing on-site support to the family during this challenging time."

Ahead of his safe return, Aydin's cousin - Anne Yaktiyol - said on social media that the family thinks he may have been taken away by a stranger.

She wrote: "My worst nightmare continues to unroll. Aydin remains missing. It appears once he left the ship in Warnemunde, Germany, he may have been lured away."

According to FOX News, the teenager had become embroiled in an argument with his grandmother - which led him to leave the ship. On Thursday night, she left the ship and is currently being assisted by Princess Cruises employees in Germany.

Princess Cruises also arranged for Brown’s mother to fly to Germany, and said: "We greatly appreciate the swift response and ongoing efforts of the local authorities in their search for the young man."
