Emma Roberts claims being a nepo baby didn't help her and cost her roles

Emma Roberts has once again shared her thoughts on Hollywood nepo babies.

The recent slang term refers to people in the entertainment industry who have famous people in their family, seemingly thriving only because of nepotism. Emma falls into this category since her father is actor Eric Roberts and her aunt is Pretty Woman actress Julia Roberts.

She has been vocal about her dislike for the term and has called it sexist in previous interviews. Emma opened up in Flaunt Magazine and claimed that being a "nepo baby" isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

"I’ve lost more jobs than I’ve gained from being in the business," she told the magazine , "People have opinions and sometimes maybe they’re not good opinions of people in your family. I’ve never gotten a job because of it, I know I definitely have lost a couple of jobs because of it.”

The actress added she wasn't sure if she should be "offended" that she wasn't included in a New York Magazine article that spawned debate. "It was a cheap shot to put all the celebrity kids on the cover of a magazine on babies’ bodies," she said.

"It’s like maybe the ‘Nepo Baby’ conversation would’ve been a more interesting article written intelligently in Vanity Fair with nuance, but instead, it was kind of this viral hating-on-people thing," Emma continued.

This isn't the first time she's spoken about the term. While appearing on iHeartPodcast’s Table for Two podcast, the American Horror Story star shared that it wasn't easy even if your family is famous.

"That’s the thing that I always talk about – people kind of only see your wins because they only see when you’re on the poster of a movie. They don’t see all the rejection along the way,” she said.

She added: "That’s why I’m always very open about things I’ve auditioned for and haven’t gotten the part for. I think it’s important to talk about – otherwise people just think everything’s been so great and linear and easy, and no, it’s not at all. But of course it looks like that to the outside perspective or to the naked eye.”
