Kate Beckinsale Shares the, Um, 'Cheeky' Way She Coped with the Passing of Her Cat

They say there is more than one way to grieve and for Kate Beckinsale that means choosing laughter.

The English actress, 50, took to Instagram to share how she dealt with a series of unfortunate events, which included the death of her cat, Clive, and some of “the most horrific news.” Spoiler alert: Her coping mechanism involved mooning the British luxury department store Harvey Nichols.

In a post shared on Monday, Beckinsale is wearing a black tee and black sweatpants as she bends over with her pants down, exposing her bum as it presses against the window.

“The day after Clive died and I received some of the most horrific news I’ve ever received that next morning,” she shared in the caption of the Monday, July 1 Instagram post.

“Sometimes there’s nothing for it but for your friend to show up as hard as possible and spend the evening making prank calls and mooning Harvey Nichols,” the Underworld actress continued. “Because sometimes when the bottom falls out of your world the only response after crying till you’re sick is your own bottom.”

Beckinsale also shouted out a friend , who stuck by her side through it all.

“@nina_kate I’ll never forget you jumping into the fire with me x,” she concluded.

A second clip from the post shows the view from the window, with the street and store fronts below, as one of the ladies is heard out of frame saying, “Hi Harvey Nics.”

In June, the Van Helsing actress paid tribute to her late cat, sharing a carousel of moments with the feline.

“Fly high my best angel on your one year anniversary,” she wrote. “Oh my heart Clive I miss you . Not a soul like you. Love of my life.”
