Motorcyclist dead after crash in Orange County

A 40-year-old man from Orlando is dead after a fatal crash on north Hiawassee Road and Burroughs Drive at approximately 7:05 p.m in Orange County on Saturday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A 42-year-old woman was traveling westbound in a 2019 Toyota Highlander on Burroughs Drive, approaching the intersection of north Hiawassee Road, FHP said. The man was driving a 2024 KTM 690 SMC Motorcycle and was traveling northbound on north Hiawassee Road, approaching Burroughs Drive in the outside lane.

FHP said the woman attempted to make a left turn and entered the direct path of the motorcycle. As a result, the front of the motorcycle struck the left side of the Toyota.

The man was pronounced dead on-scene, FHP said. The woman was not injured and remained on-scene.

This crash remains under investigation.
