Many figured John Cena would retire soon. He has teased for it years, but few were prepared for what happened at Money in the Bank . After a surprise appearance, Cena got right down to business . He will work a few shows in 2025 and then retire after WrestleMania 41 . Although the news was coming, many were still left shocked.

At the MITB post-show media scrum , Cena answered questions about another title run. “Those opportunities are earned,” said Cena. “Given my past track record, I’ve got some work to do. So what I said tonight about fantastic opportunities, man, the Rumble, that’s a great ticket. Elimination Chamber now has some stakes to it. That is another great opportunity. So, I know from a straight competitive standpoint I have to work my way up from the bottom. I’m a realist. But there are some opportunities scattered that, if I do harness a little more luck, who knows, maybe we really make some history. Either way, I’m excited. Guys, that is my time.”

Ric Flair’s 16 title reign is a record that is yet to be broken, Triple H was close before retirement and Orton is up there too. If anyone will break that number, it is Cena. Maybe, WWE will ask Flair out of respect. If he is cool with it, then make the change. If not, WWE can always decided to ignore Flair’s wish.

When it comes to pro wrestlers, Cena was not the best in the ring. Although, he worked harder than anyone and is the best example of a role-model. I think whatever Cena wants over the next year, he he gets because he earned it. So, should WWE make John Cena a 17 Time World Champion?
