The National Hurricane Center predicts remnants of Hurricane Beryl could reach Ohio this week as it made landfall in Texas on Monday.

Beryl will link up with another storm system this week, bringing about half an inch of rain to Ohio Tuesday through Thursday, NWS meteorologist Ashley Novak said.

Beryl was considered a tropical storm but picked up strength before making landfall, becoming a category one hurricane. As it makes its way through Texas, the storm's path is predicted to curve, sending its remnants toward Ohio and the Midwest.

    Where did Beryl make landfall?

Beryl first hit the continental U.S. at around 4:30 a.m. Monday, landing near Matagorda, a coastal community between Corpus Christi and Galveston, USA Today reported.

The storm brought damaging winds up to 92 miles per hour and torrential rainfall to the Texas coast, prompting tornado warnings in multiple counties and a flash flood warning in Houston. Three to six inches of rain have already fallen on Houston, with two to four more inches expected, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Beryl's path will stretch from Cincinnati to Akron, covering the northwestern half of the state. Columbus suburbs including Dublin, Hilliard, Worthington and Westerville are currently in the remnants' path, but its path could change as the week goes by, Novak said.

"Just like any forecast, as you get closer in time to the actual event you fine tune those details and the exact track location," Novak said.

Beryl is part of what is expected to be an unusually busy hurricane season this year.
