Zac Efron's shocking face transformation analyzed by plastic surgeon after fans left confused

The transformation of Zac Efron's visage has been the topic of discussion following his latest Netflix film, A Family Affair. Fans took to social media to voice their shock at his altered appearance.

One fan socked fan wrote: "WTF ! ! ! ! What happened to your face Zac." Another suggested: "Plastic surgery and aging. Oh but smoking probably. They can't fool us."

But, fans defended the star, reminding others of his surgery after a nasty fall years ago . Now, a surgeon has stepped up to give their professional opinion.

Dr Mark Solomos, a top plastic surgeon, spoke to MailOnline . He noted: "As a young boy Zac appears to have more of an oval shaped face which is a combination of square and round. The face is usually longer than it is wide as we can see in this picture from 2010."

By 2010, Zac's countenance had become more distinct and chiselled. Dr Solomos further commented adding: "By 2010 Zac has matured and his face has filled out somewhat accordingly, as we would expect to see. His jawline is perhaps more angular but not due to any interventions - he's simply grown into his face."

He observed that Zac exhibited some 'right side appears to be lower' asymmetry. His most drastic transformation occurred in 2019, when he completely changed his appearance for his role as Flicker in The Beach Bum, making him almost unrecognisable.

Zac previously spoke out about the surgery amid past speculations surrounding his looks. In 2022, he discussed with Men's Health for their October cover story, stating that he had broken his jaw while running around his home in socks.

The actor shared that he slipped and hit a fountain's edge, causing him to blackout. He mentioned that his 'chin bone' was hanging off his face.

As Zac recuperated from the injury, his facial muscles became "really big", which is why he sought the assistance of a physical therapist.

He added: "The masseters just grew. They just got really, really big."

The masseter muscle has a key role in facial and jaw movement, including chewing. Despite the gossip, Zac maintained that he wasn't affected by the speculation - it seems nothing much has changed.
