Planned AEW Feud At Risk Due To Injury Sustained During Collision Match

In disappointing news, Fightful Select has reported that Riho was injured during her match with Lady Frost during this week’s episode of Collision against Lady Frost. Precisly when the injury occurred isn’t clear, although as she was holding her left arm after a turnbuckle crossbody dive, that appears to be the most likely spot. This was the Japanese wrestler’s first match since a defeat to Willow Nightingale in March, and with a program with Serena Deeb having been teased, the timing is terrible.

“Riho also sustained an injury during her AEW Collision match on Saturday. She was poised for a feud with Serena Deeb, but now there’s no word on how long she could be sidelined. Riho hadn’t appeared for AEW in four months ahead of the start of the feud.”

Riho has been wrestling since she was just nine years old and made history by being the inaugural AEW Women’s Champion, holding the title between October 2019 and February 2020. However, while she was one of the promotion’s top stars at launch, she has since fallen down the pecking order, with AEW’s women’s roster having grown significantly in recent years. Yet, considering she is only 27 years old and immensely talented, it seems only a matter of time before she is a title challenger again.
