Press release from Alachua County Fire Rescue

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – At about 2:10 p.m. on July 7, units from Alachua County Fire Rescue, Newberry Fire Rescue, and High Springs Fire Rescue responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 17000 block of NW 40 th Place.

Upon their arrival, crews found a working fire in a two-story residential structure, with heavy dark smoke coming from the doors and eves. Crews quickly deployed hose lines and made an aggressive attack to extinguish the fire, keeping it contained to the room of origin.

Fire damage was limited to the laundry room, where it was determined the cause was electrical in nature. No one was injured by the incident. The Red Cross was called to assist the residents.
