UPDATE: Most of the power has been restored to residents in the Upstate and Western North Carolina

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) — Things are looking a bit dark for residents of the Upstate and Western North Carolina.

More than 4,000 people are without power in multiple North Carolina counties, most notably, Henderson and Buncombe. The outage, according to Duke Energy, was caused by damage to major power lines.

The estimated time of restoration for Buncombe County is around 4:15 a.m., while the estimated time of restoration for Henderson County is around 3:15 a.m.

Meanwhile, parts of Greenville and Spartanburg counties are also experiencing outages, with more than a thousand people being without power. The cause of the Upstate outages are unknown at this time.

Power in Greenville and Spartanburg counties should be restored before 2 a.m.
