LeBron James spoke emotionally about his son and teammate Bronny James, discussing the hate around his son with ESPN while preparing to represent Team USA at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

"I don't know if people really understand Bronny. He doesn't care. I actually care a little bit. When I came in [as a rookie], I wanted people to like me and some of the things that people were saying about me kind of bothered me early on in my career. ... He doesn't give a f**k."

"He does not care about nobody. He doesn't even listen to that stuff. He's like the coolest. He's like the complete opposite of his dad. His dad will say something [to address the critics]. Bro does not care. ... Everything that's being said about him, he really does not care."

LeBron continued by speaking about his son choosing to be a basketball player despite being able to pursue anything he wants due to the wealth he's grown up around.

"Just imagine if you were a kid, you were born into a situation where your dad was super famous, super wealthy and you the kid still had the drive to want to be able to accomplish things for yourself. I personally don't know if I would've been able to do that if the roles were reversed."

LeBron got emotional while talking about how he had no choice when it came to picking basketball as his future because it was the only way he could provide for himself and his family.

"When I was coming up, I had no choice. I literally had no choice. ... I had to make it out for me. My mom, my family, my hometown, my city. Bronny has all the choices in the world. If Bronny wants to stop right now or never played basketball or just wanted be a gamer or wanted to be a chef or wanted to be nothing to whatever, he could have done that."

LeBron also brought up the fact Bronny recovered from a cardiac arrest in less than a year to finish his college basketball season and then be drafted into the NBA.

"People don't understand how hard that is and the commitment for him to be coming out of heart surgery less than a year ago, for him to be able to be in the NBA, the kid, he's special. But he doesn't care. He doesn't. It doesn't bother him."

Bronny has come into the NBA with a sea of criticism behind his selection in the NBA Draft after a very poor NCAA season with the USC Tigers, averaging 4.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game on 37.4% shooting from the field. Given Bronny's unimpressive physical attributes, people don't see how he deserved to be drafted with poor stats and a low athletic ceiling.

His Summer League debut didn't help his case, with Bronny putting up 4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal, while shooting 2-9 from the field, prompting LeBron to dismiss the long-term impact of Summer League stats .

Now that he's expected to play most of the season in the G League after making his NBA debut alongside LeBron, everyone will hope Bronny can develop into being a solid NBA player.
