Lebanon Transit is asking county residents and commuters for creative help in naming their buses ahead of Try Transit Month with a 'Name the Bus' contest.

This is Lebanon Transit's first bus naming contest, inviting residents to come up with creative names for their fleet, with the winning entries to be displayed on each bus during the month of September.

The contest will consist of two rounds. In the first, participants can submit up to three bus names. Lebanon Transit staff will then select its 50 favorite names from those submissions in the first round. Those 50 favorites will then be put to a community-wide vote to determine the top 18, one for each bus in Lebanon Transit's fleet.

The first round, where residents can submit names, will open up on Monday, July 15 at 8 a.m. and close on Sunday, July 28 at midnight.

The community voting round will begin on Friday, Aug. 2 at 8 a.m. and close on Friday, Aug. 9 at 4 p.m.

Both rounds will be hosted online at lebanontransit.org/namethebus . Residents without internet access can contact the marketing coordinator at (717) 274 3664 extension 304 to submit entries by phone.

Winning names will be announced and winners notified by Friday, Aug. 30. Of the 18 winners, eight will be randomly selected to receive an official Lebanon Transit fleece scarf.

    Name the Bus contest rules:

    • The contest is open to residents living or working within Lebanon County.
    • During the name submission round, participants can enter up to three (3) potential bus names per person.
    • During the community voting round, participants can vote an unlimited number of times for their favorite name(s).
    • Names of people (living or deceased), places, songs, movies, pop culture elements, and other non-trademarked items are permitted. Be creative!

    • Winners agree to have their name, municipality, and photo shared on the Name the Bus webpage and Lebanon Transit social media accounts.
