Michael Easton left fans heartbroken when he left General Hospital , but he could soon return to our screens by re-joining the cast of Days of Our Lives .

The actor had been on General Hospital for more than 10 years , having started in 2012 as John McBain. He's gone on to play other characters such as Silas Clay and Hamilton Finn. However, he actually started off his acting career playing Tanner Scofield on Days of Our Lives.

Now that Michael is no longer working on General Hospital, fans are convinced he could return to Salem city. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter , one person wrote: "Michael Easton may be gone from #GH, but that just means it's the perfect time to rejoin #Days!"

Another Days of Our Lives fan commented: "We miss Michael Easton!" It isn't the first time an actor has starred on both General Hospital and Days of Our Lives.

Steve Burton, well-known for playing Jason Morgan on General Hospital, left the soap a few years ago to return to his acting debut on Days of Our Lives. There are also some other clues Michael could be following in Steve's footsteps.

Ron Carlivati, the head writer on Days of Our Lives, was the head writer on General Hospital when Michael first appeared as Stephen Clay/Caleb Morley from Port Charles. He's also the head writer who brought Steve's character back to Days of Out Lives for a year-long run.

After Michael left General Hospital, he revealed what happened after he filmed his final scenes alongside Josh Swickard. "We shot it at the end of the night at the studio, but outside," he said. "There weren't a lot of people there; it was a very small crew and Josh and me, so he gave me a big hug and I got to hug all the crew, and I was able to hold it in and not shed any tears."

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest , he added: "After we were done, I just sat in my dressing room for about 45 minutes in the dark. Everybody went home and they basically had turned the lights off."

Michael joked that he was worried "they were going to change my locks on my door" before he got out. Announcing his exit from General Hospital, the actor shared a video on Instagram expressing his gratitude towards the cast and his fans.

Speaking about his decision to share the clip, he said: "I just wanted to share something with the fans and open myself up a little bit and make myself a little vulnerable." After posting the video, the soap star was flooded with kind comments from viewers.
