'Right' King Charles and Prince William are 'entirely right' to make major move to Royal Family

King Charles is advocating for a trimmer Royal Family , steering clear of the traditional packed Buckingham Palace balcony scenes with non-working royals even as the absence of the Princess of Wales and Princess Royal reveals the strain on the Royals to keep up with their commitments and charity work.

Despite this, there's no hint of any plans to bump up the number of working Royals, a perspective supported by former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond. "I still hold to the idea that the slimmed down Royal Family IS indeed the right model for the future," Jennie opined to OK!

Jennie maintains that this streamlined monarchy mirrors other European Royal households and diminishes the frequent gripes over the Royal Family's cost to the public. She elaborated: "Adding new working royals to the payroll will only exacerbate that criticism. I think the model William has experimented with is the answer: drafting in his cousins here and there (e.g. garden parties) to spice things up a bit."

She also highlighted that this tactic makes their appearances more "special" whilst giving them some privacy in their personal lives. "I think the King and William are entirely right to be determined to keep the core of working royals a small, tight unit that can be accountable to the public purse," she said, reports the Mirror .

Jennie's opinions have surfaced amid speculation that Prince William intends to follow in his father's footsteps and significantly reduce the number of royals. A source close to the Prince told the Daily Mail's Richard Eden: "He told me: 'When the older members of the family retire, His Royal Highness won't be inviting anyone else to become working royals."

Eden added to the debate, claiming: "It remains to be seen if he will even want his two younger children to be working royals." With Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, being the only other Royal currently under 60, it suggests that King William and Queen Kate could be the only full-time royals left by the time he becomes King.

The insider was clear about William's desires, stating: "That is what William wants." Reports claim William is turning to Europe's smaller monarchies as inspiration for the future of the British monarchy. Princess Anne has already expressed her skepticism over plans for a reduced monarchy.

In an unusual interview with CBC News, she gave a candid response to the proposed changes: "Well, I think the 'slimmed down' was said in a day when there were a few more people around. It doesn't sound like a good idea from where I'm standing, I would say. I'm not quite sure what else we can do."

"Well, you know what you're getting because he's been practicing for a bit, and I don't think he'll change," she noted. "You know, he is committed to his own level of service, and that will remain true."
