WVSOM student elected as Board of Governors member

LEWISBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine student Ethan Galloway has been elected as a member of WVSOM’s Board of Governors.

Galloway, a third-year student set to graduate as part of the Class of 2026, began his term as a student representative at the beginning of this month on July 1.

As a member of the WVSOM Board of Governors, Galloway will participate in the overseeing of the business, educational, and financial policies by which the school abides. The board is made up of nine members who have been appointed by West Virginia Governor, Jim Justice along with three elected individuals – one representative each from the staff, student body, and faculty of the school.

Galloway served as WVSOM Student Government Association President prior to having joined the Board of Governors. He was also a representative for the committee of the WVSOM Class of 2026.

During his time at WVSOM, he has been acknowledged through the Dr. Roland P. Sharp President and Foundation Award of Excellence for Student Achievement, the WVSOM Alumni Association Scholarship, and the Greenbrier Military School Alumni Assocation Scholarship.

Galloway was also recently appointed to the executive board for the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine’s Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents’ for the 2024-2025 academic year as a national programs representative.

The student expressed excitement at the opportunity to serve on the WVSOM Board of Governors, stating, “It’s an honor to have been selected by my colleagues to be their voice on the board. Having spent the past year as SGA president, I’ve developed strong working relationships with my peers and WVSOM’s faculty and staff.

He continued, “I’m excited to continue to grow these relationships, and my goal is to make sure student success remains at the forefront of every decision we make. The board’s student seat allows us to provide insight into the ideas and issues that come before us and ensure they will impact our success.”
