3 dead after small plane crashes in McDowell Co.

MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) – Three people have died after a small plane crashed in McDowell County.

According to McDowell County Emergency Management, emergency personnel responded to the Brackett Town Road area off Vein Mountain Road in Dysartsville when a small plane was reported missing.

Officials said they located the plane near the McDowell-Rutherford County line.

The FAA is on scene while the National Transportation Safety Board has been dispatched to lead the investigation.

Officials are asking the public to avoid the Brackett Town Road area as crews continue working.
