Organizers say this donation will help make sure Iowa’s food insecure children get the protein they need.

“Fifteen percent of our kids are food insecure. And I just looked at our statistics, 43% of the individuals that we serve at Food Bank of Iowa via our food pantry partners and our meal sites, 43% are children,” Michelle Book, Food Bank of Iowa CEO, said.

The HATCH for Hunger Program is an organization that aims to create a protein-secure supply chain by directly connecting farmers to hunger relief organizations.
