CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) — 2 people are dead following a crash on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, officers were dispatched around 5:16 p.m. after receiving a 911 call regarding an injury crash.

Officers responded to the intersection of E. State Route 29 at S. Ludlow Road, in Union Township.

An investigation of the scene indicated to police that the crash occurred as the driver of a Harley Davidson motorcycle — traveling southbound on S. Ludlow Road — failed to yield at the intersection and was struck by a Ford truck that was hauling a travel trailer. The truck was traveling eastbound on East State Route 29.

The impact of the crash ejected the driver and passenger of the motorcycle. The motorcycle came to rest in a ditch, on the north side of East State Route 29, and caught fire.

The driver of the motorcycle, identified as John Baker, 65, and the passenger Alisa Britton, 51 were pronounced deceased at the scene and upon arrival at the hospital respectively.

The driver and passengers of the Ford truck were treated by EMS on the scene.

The scene was investigated with assistance from sheriff’s offices in Union, Hardin and Logan Counties.

    An investigation is ongoing.
