MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- The Midland Police Department responded to an accident that involved two juveniles who crashed a car into the Duck Pond at Wadley Barron Park.

According to MPD reports, on Monday, July 8, around 6:30 a.m., a 17-year-old girl was driving a Lincoln MKZ southbound on B street, when she allegedly ‘hopped’ a curb on the northwest side of the park, which caused the vehicle to crash and become fully submerged in the duck pond.

MPD reported that the driver tried to run away from the crash scene but was found by police about a block away and that the investigation is ongoing.

Officials reported that both teens were treated for minor injuries and that local wrecker services were able to remove the car from the duck pond around 9:30 a.m.
