PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Prince George County residents are being urged to conserve water due to moderate drought conditions experienced throughout the area.

According to the county, Prince George County residents who do not use well water receive their water from Appomattox River Water Authority.

The authority uses water from Lake Chesdin, located along the border between Chesterfield and Dinwiddie counties.

According to the latest update from the U.S. Drought Monitor on July 3, much of the state is experiencing moderate drought conditions. As a result, the reservoir continues to drop toward levels that require notifying the public to take measures to conserve water.

If levels continue to drop, residents may be notified of mandatory water restrictions to protect the water source in accordance with a county ordinance.
