Koe Wetzel on mainstream country radio... who would've thought. Today, Koe's song "High Road" officially impacts at country radio stations across the country, which features guest vocals from his Columbia labelmate Jessie Murph and is included on his forthcoming album 9 Lives
. The song previously became the biggest debut of his career, when it came in at #29 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after the first week of it being out earlier this month, and already has an astronomical 64.3 million worldwide streams thus far. And while Koe is hardly a newcomer by any stretch of the imagination, as he's been touring his ass off selling thousands of tickets for years now, it's a pretty big moment in his career to have a single at country radio, which is obviously the most "mainstream," if you will, thing he's ever done. Koe came up in the Texas music scene, and put out three albums of his own before releasing his major label debut with Columbia called Sellout in 2020. Obviously, the radio aspect really doesn't matter, especially for someone like Koe who has already built an impressive and successful catalog and fan base on his own, but it will be interesting to watch as he sort of starts to navigate the mainstream world of country music with "High Road," and likely on or two other songs from
9 Lives eventually too. Based on the early streaming numbers and the high Billboard debut, it's seemingly off to a hot start and will likely at least do decently well as a single... who knows, maybe it will even go all the way to #1. Honestly, having Koe on mainstream country radio is something I could've never imagined several years ago, but it goes to show how much the genre has shifted (for the better), and I'm excited to see where his career goes from here. I might even have to turn on my local FM station for this one ( maybe )... "High Road" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyAKpowkUDA Koe has released three other songs from the record thus far, including “9 Lives (Black Cat),” “Damn Near Normal” and “Sweet Dreams.”
