LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Keep the umbrella handy as we head into this week as we have multiple chances for rain including pop-up showers and even the remnants of tropical storm Beryl moving in later in the week.

Clouds have become more apparent in the sky this afternoon as the chance for pop-up showers continues into the late afternoon and early evening hours.

Temperatures for the remainder of the day will remain in the upper 80s. We do have the chance for some pop-up showers and storms, while no severe weather is expected there is a possibility of gusty winds and hail with these thunderstorms. Tonight we will see temperatures drop into the upper 60s with the chance of those showers still sticking around until the early morning hours of Tuesday.

Tuesday will feature temperatures into the low 80s thanks to the cloud cover and showers to our east. We could see an isolated shower or rumble of thunder however I think we will remain dry for the majority of the day. Our focus then shifts to Tuesday night through Thursday, as the remnants of tropical storm Beryl move into the Midwest and could impact mid-Michigan.

Beryl made landfall along the Texas coastline early this morning as a category one hurricane, a high-pressure system over the western portion of the United States will help steer the remnants into the Ohio Valley by Wednesday.

While the highest impacts remain in our south, there is a lot of tropical moisture that is associated with this system. For Wednesday, the Weather Prediction Center (WPC) has mid-Michigan at a slight risk for excessive rainfall where we could see anywhere from an inch to about 3 inches of rain possible with this system. We will have to continue to monitor the track as any movement could mean more rain for us by Wednesday.

Behind the tropical remnants, we see a brief period of calm weather with plenty of sunshine for Friday and into Saturday with temperatures into the low to mid-80s, by the start of next week though we could see temperatures jump into the upper 80s to low 90s with humidity returning.
