As the inland heat wave enters its seventh day, the National Weather Service (NWS) San Francisco Bay Area office has reported that there will be a temporary cooling trend through Tuesday before temperatures rise again from Wednesday through Friday. More substantial cooling is anticipated over the weekend.

Satellite imagery indicates stratus clouds are primarily confined to the immediate coastal regions of the Bay Area and Central Coast, with some patches lingering near Berkeley and Napa County Airport. These patches are expected to dissipate throughout the day, although the coastal areas will remain under cloud cover into the evening, with stratus building back overnight.

Interior regions are experiencing another hot day, with Excessive Heat Warnings in effect for the Santa Lucias and the interior Central Coast mountains. Heat Advisories continue for areas away from the coast across the region. High temperatures are reaching the 90s in the inland valleys and the low 100s in the warmest parts of the Bay Area. Southern Monterey County is experiencing temperatures in the low 110s near the San Luis Obispo County border. Coastal regions are cooler, with highs ranging from the mid-70s to the low 80s along the Bayshore and the low to mid-60s along the coast.

    Forecast

    • Tonight: Lows from the mid-50s to lower 60s in lower elevations, rising to the low to mid-70s in thermal belts.
    • Tuesday: Highs a few degrees cooler in the interior, ranging from the mid-80s to lower 90s in most interior valleys, the upper 90s in the warmest parts of the Bay Area, and the mid to upper 100s across southern Monterey County. Coastal and Bayshore temperatures will remain consistent with today's temperatures.
