Experienced golfer Keegan Bradley was officially announced as the captain of Team USA on Monday for the Ryder Cup in 2025.

It's believed Tiger Woods , who filled the role in the 2019 President's Cup, declined an offer to assume the captaincy. The five-time Masters winner expressed public concern with balancing ongoing injury rehab, a role on the PGA Tour board, and leading Team USA.

Bradley said: "I am incredibly honored to accept this opportunity to Captain the United States Team at the 2025 Ryder Cup. I would like to thank the PGA of America Ryder Cup Committee for their trust in me as we embark on this journey to Bethpage Black.

"My passion and appreciation for golf’s greatest team event have never been stronger. The Ryder Cup is unlike any other competition in our sport, and this edition will undoubtedly be particularly special given the rich history and enthusiastic spectators at this iconic course. I look forward to beginning preparations for 2025."

Other candidates included Stewart Cink, Matt Kuchar, and Webb Simpson were all candidates for the role, but the PGA of America ultimately selected Bradley, citing his previous Ryder Cup experience. The Florida native has a 4-2 record through two appearances in the 2012 and 2014 Ryder Cup competitions, pairing with Phil Mickelson at both events.

“I am proud and excited to name Keegan Bradley as Captain of the 2025 United States Ryder Cup Team,” said Lindert, PGA Director of Golf at The Country Club of Lansing. “Keegan’s past Ryder Cup experience, strong relationships and unwavering passion for this event will prove invaluable as he guides the U.S. Team over the next year and a half.

"We are confident that with Keegan at the helm, the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup Team will compete at Bethpage with the same confidence and determination that has defined his career."

Bradley looked set to gain further experience in the competition in 2023, surging up the Ryder Cup standings before the event kicked off last October from Rome. But the 2014 US Open winner, who finished 11th in qualifying points, was snubbed by team captain Zach Johnson in favor of Justin Thomas, going on to speak about the team's insular culture.

"The reality for me is, I don’t have this connection to that group that a lot of guys have, so I know I have to go play well to get on this team," Bradley said on the Netflix show "Full Swing."

Bradley later admitted: "But I kept telling myself, listen, this is not going to be easy. You’re not going to be picked if you’re a fringe pick. You have to go prove that they have to pick you.

"When I didn’t make the team on points, I knew that was a big risk. I knew that if it was down to me or some of those guys, I probably wouldn’t get picked. I knew that going in and I just kept trying to play as hard as I could."
