NBA superstar Kevin Durant recently spoke to the media, sharing insight into his future in the league. While Durant explained that his main goal is to win a championship, he said that his role on the team will play a large factor in how long he plays the game.

The 35-year-old star has played 16 seasons in the NBA, averaging 27.3 points and seven rebounds in his career. He completed his second season with the Phoenix Suns in 2024, posting 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and five assists per game.

“I can tap in and roll at any time. It’s about how many minutes, how many shots I’m gonna get. I just love to play the game. If it’s a good situation, if I’m still enjoying the game of basketball, my goal is to play this (game) till the wheels fall off, for whatever role that is, so we’ll see," said Durant via BSO.

Durant hasn't skipped a beat, ranking as the No. 5 scorer in the league last season, but the clock is ticking on his window to win another ring.

Apr 20, 2024; Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA; Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant (35) looks on against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second half during game one of the first round for the 2024 NBA playoffs at Target Center.

Durant will turn 36 on Sept. 29. He is playing through a four-year, $194.2 million deal, which he signed with the Brooklyn Nets in 2021. Durant will earn $51.1 million during the 2024-25 season and $54.7 million the following year, ultimately hitting free agency in 2026, per Hoops Hype.

The 6-foot-11 forward is one of the most lethal scorers in NBA history, and he plays alongside some extremely talented playmakers in the desert. When the Suns formed a Big 3 of Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, and Durant, many believed it was Durant's best shot at securing the third ring of his career.

His previous championship wins came with the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018, where they formed one of the greatest teams of all time with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Durant.

He's currently competing with Team USA's Olympic team as they prepare for the Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Team USA will host Team Canada in Las Vegas on July 10 for an exhibition game at 10:30 p.m. ET.

It's unknown when the wheels will fall off for Durant, but he's still under contract for a few years, and he hasn't shown any sign of regression.
