EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — Two men have been arrested for illegally dumping trash in the desert, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.

On Saturday, July 6, deputies were called to the 11700 block of Elizabeth Drive in East El Paso County about reports of illegal dumping.

When deputies arrived, they saw a vehicle that matched the description they had been given in reference to the illegal dumping.

Deputies then conducted a vehicle stop at Horizon Boulevard and Stockyard Drive.

An investigation found 51-year-old Manuel Hidalgo and 47-year-old Felipe Hidalgo to be responsible for dumping roughly 1,440 cubic feet of trash in the desert area, according to the Sheriff’s Office. An online calculator shows that 1,440 cubic feet of trash would fill a room that was 12 feet by 12 feet and 10 feet high.

Manuel Hidalgo and Felipe Hidalgo were arrested and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for illegal dumping under a $1,500 bond. The news release did not say what their relationship to each other is.
