LANSING — When county health inspectors visit local restaurants, they document problems that need addressing to meet standards set by Michigan food codes and law.

The most serious problems are considered priority violations, which present potential health hazards and should be corrected immediately. Priority foundation violations do not present immediate health hazards but should be corrected in a timely manner. Follow-up inspections and reports may consequently happen.

In most cases, the violations are corrected, and this information isn't an indication that violations at any establishment are still an ongoing issue.

Here are the most serious violations for restaurants in Ingham County during the last two weeks of June.

Two priority violations were found at:

Thai Princess , 1754 Central Park Drive, Okemos

Foods requiring time and temperature controls were found in a cooler with temperatures over the cold bar of 41 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. Sauces were registering 45-54 degrees F. Foods were discarded or relocated. Corrected at time of inspection. "Dishes/utensils must be properly sanitized, or pathogens may grow to illness causing levels. Correct by ensuring that dish machine is sanitizing with chlorine at a level of 50-100 (parts per million)."

One priority violation and two priority foundation violations were found at:

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt , 2721 Preyde Blvd., Lansing

During a follow-up inspection, the yogurt machine was registering 51 degrees F, not meeting the cold standard of 41 degrees or below. Soap and single-use towels weren't available at a handwashing sink. Employees were using hand sanitizer.

One priority violation and one priority foundation violation were found at:

Batter Up Bistro , 621 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing

A unit was turned off, and "all the food" was over 50 degrees F, at least 9 degrees over the necessary cold limit. Corrected. The menus did not have the proper consumer advisories on the breakfast and brunch menus.

Oak Lane Golf Course , 800 N. Main St., Webberville

The cream cheese in a large refrigerator was registering 45 degrees F, or four degrees over the cold standard of 41 degrees and below. Corrected by moving cream cheese to a cooler with the proper temperature. Lunch meat in a reach-in cooler did not have a date label.

Sparty's Kabob , 930 Trowbridge Road, East Lansing

The "cold hold buffet line" was not on, and all the food items - salad, hummus, vegetable salads, pasta salad, and grape leaf items were all registering about 70 degrees F. The three-door refrigerator was only maintaining food at 54 degrees F, instead of the cold standard of 41 degrees F or below. The inspector said the unit should be turned on and not store any food until it was the right temperature. The inspector said certain foods should be discarded, and the issue was considered resolved. There were no sanitizer test strips for quaternary ammonia.

University Club of Michigan State University , 3435 Forest Road, Lansing

A refrigerator registered 51. 5 degrees F, or 10 degrees over the cold standard, so "product in unit was discarded." There was no hand soap at a hand sink. Both issues were resolved.

One priority violation was found at:

    Archey's Bar & Grill , 5575 Oak St., Onondaga

Raw shell eggs were being stored over ready-to-eat food instead of being stored toward the bottom of the cooler, preventing cross contamination. Corrected.

Biggby Coffee , 300 W. Grand River Ave., East Lansing

Syrups in cooler were reading at 45-49 degrees F, over the cold standard of 41 degrees or below. Corrected.

Hampton Inn & Suites , 2200 Hampton Place, Okemos

No chlorine sanitizer was detected in the dish machine. "Correct by ensuring that dish machine is sanitizing with chlorine at a level of 50-100 (parts per million), as machine label indicates or provide verification that quat may be used in this machine to fully sanitize dishes."

Savvy Sliders , 3464 Okemos Road, Okemos

During a follow-up inspection, an inspector found that the atmospheric vacuum breaker cap and device is missing/broken on the mop sink faucet, potentially causing a backflow of contaminated water. Another follow-up inspection was promised.

The Wooden Nickel II , 1029 Jackson St., Dansville

"Food items in reach in cooler on cook line and walk in (were) holding between 45 F to 50 F," or outside the range of 41 degrees or below. The person in charge discarded all potentially hazardous foods.

Two priority foundation violations were found at:

Michigan State University Brody Complex Dining Services, East Lansing

An inspector found "improper and inconsistent" date marking. Panned cottage cheese was dated for 14 days; carrot salad, for 8. There was "no date marked on sausage when taken from frozen, etc." All ready-to-eat, potentially hazardous founds are supposed to be marked with a date not to exceed 7 days. A follow-up visit was planned. Salad bowls were being stored in a hand sink, preventing proper handwashing. Corrected.

One priority foundation violation was found at:

Big Apple Bagels , 248 E. Saginaw St., East Lansing

The hand sink located in the front had a water temperature less than the standard of 100 degrees F.

Biggby Coffee , 3499 E. Lake Lansing Road, East Lansing

A dog was seen inside and removed. Corrected at time of inspection.

Cristo Rey Catholic Church , 201 W. Miller Road, Lansing

A test kit for chlorine was not available.

Ming Dynasty , 2515 E. Jolly Road, Lansing

A test kit for bleach sanitizer was not available. Corrected.

Panda House , 3499 E. Lake Lansing Road, East Lansing

A spray bottle of degreaser was not properly labeled with contents, as required for chemicals.

    Starbucks , 637 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing

Outstanding from a June 20 inspection: No hand soap in the soap dispenser.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe , 1595 W. Lake Lansing Road, East Lansing

A bottle of insecticide spray was on a shelf in the back kitchen. Because the can of Zero did not indicate it was approved for a commercial food establishment, the inspector recommended removal. Corrected.

Ukai Hibachi Grill & Sushi Bar , 2314 Woodlake Drive, Okemos

There were items "resting in/on" the handwashing sinks, preventing proper handwashing. Corrected.
