Lewis County Public Health & Social Services on Monday announced retired Army Sergeant Patrick Goulbourne as its new veterans benefits specialist.

Goulbourne has a background as a corrections officer and a homeless outreach volunteer. He has a master's degree in business administration.

Goulbourne brings expertise and compassion to supporting our veterans and their families, according to a news release from the county.

As a corrections officer, he served as a liaison for incarcerated veterans. He’s also worked as a volunteer veterans community service officer.

According to the county, Goulbourne “has demonstrated a deep personal commitment to advocating for veterans' rights and ensuring they receive the benefits and support they deserve.”

As veterans benefits specialist, he will lead efforts to streamline benefits applications, enhance outreach programs and collaborate with other service organizations.

"I am honored to join Lewis County as the veterans benefits specialist,” Goulbourne stated in the news release. “Having gone through the veteran's system myself, I understand firsthand the challenges veterans face in accessing their entitlements. I look forward to leveraging my experience to ensure our veterans receive the support they need and deserve."

For more information on the Lewis County Veteran Relief Fund or to schedule an appointment, contact Goulbourne at 360-740-1417 or patrick.goulbourne@lewiscountywa.gov .
