COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – Roadwork continues in Columbia County, as the county informs the public of temporary lane closures this week on Furys Ferry Road.

According to the county, the lane closures will be between Evans to locks Road and Anderson Circle starting on Thursday, July 11, 2024 and lasting through Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Drivers in that area should expect to see delays, so using an alternate route if possible is encouraged.

The temporary lane closures are a result of the Furys Ferry roadway-widening project, which is funded by Georgia’s Transportation Investment Act.

Construction started in 2021 and is expected to be completed in 2025.
