Election 2024 live: Harris campaign rakes in $200m in week amid prediction Trump could replace ‘weird’ Vance

Kamala Harris ’ presidential campaign has raked in more than $200m in donations in the week since Joe Biden exited the race and the v ice president stepped up to replace him on the Democratic party’s ticket.

The campaign announced that 66 per cent of the funds came from first-time donors.

“Vice President Harris has been a candidate for less than a week, but she’s already coalesced the entire Democratic Party around her campaign and the organic, grassroots enthusiasm is producing results,” the campaign’s communications director, Michael Tyler, said in a statement.

It comes as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer predicted that Donald Trump is likely regretting picking JD Vance as his running mate as the Ohio senator faces backlash over his “childless cat ladies” comments .

Speaking to Face the Nation on Sunday, Schumer said: “Every day, it comes out Vance has done something more extreme, more weird, more erratic.

“Vance seems to be more weird and erratic than president Trump, and I’ll bet president Trump is sitting there, scratching his head, and wondering, ‘Why did I pick this guy?’” Schumer predicted that Trump could replace Vance on the ticket.
